Adding entries to new Schmooze Directory module makes blank entry

I am using Schmooze Directory version 2.8.0beta1.1 on freepbx 2.8.0.0 beta2.1

When adding users to the directory the users are listed in the drop down after pressing +, but selecting users results in blank entries being created above, with no names or extensions, same happens when selecting All Users.

Some notes on this install: deployment was copied using Backup/Restore module from a production 2.7 system, then upgraded to 2.8 beta using the upgrade module.
