Is it possible to develop a way to assign a BLF key to a phone in endpoint manager that selects an extension from a list? When someone leaves their job and they get replaced, it is quite a manual process to update each person's template to reflect the new name for that same extension.
For example:
John Doe is at extension 3001 but is either terminated or resigns. Manager hires John's replacement and they start their new job at John's old desk. That extension is updated in FreePBX to reflect Jane Doe, the new employee. However, the rest of Jane's coworkers still have a BLF for extension 3001 with the label, John Doe. This requires a painstaking process to update each template manually.
If only the endpoint manager pulled from the same database, based on the extension's current name. Then, each time the phone checks for a new config, it will update the BLF label automagically.
Thank you!
