Module Fix Version:
logfiles | 13.0.10.5 |
System with "Append Hostname" enabled in Asterisk Logfiles module experiences the following issues:
- /var/log/asterisk/full file is changed to /var/log/asterisk/full.hostname which prevents logrotate from working on the file
- /var/log/asterisk/fail2ban is changed to /var/log/asterisk/fail2ban.hostname which prevents logrotate from working but more importantly prevents sysadmin intrusion detection from monitoring asterisk intrusion attempts
- Not 100% sure on this one, but on the same system we are seeing oddities with the way that log events are being written by asterisk to queue_log. It looks like appendhostname=yes may be an issue with that as well.
I believe that this setting has been in the GUI for a long time, so it's probably not wise to remove it, but given the security consequences, perhaps a dashboard notice and an updated tool tip recommending it be kept disabled.
