UCP Contact Manager displaying dashes for empty fields

When a User edits their User Details, if ever they set an entry and then clear it, instead of it clearing out of the Internal Directory, it displays dashes.  I suspect it might be the difference between a NULL vs empty string in the underlying database, but I don't really know for sure.  I've attached a screenshot of how these empty entries render in Contacts in UCP.
